Core Meeting Features
Everything your team expects from a modern video platform, hosted on infrastructure you control.
📹
HD/4K Video & Audio
WebRTC-based video with adaptive bitrate, simulcast (3 spatial + 3 temporal layers), and bandwidth optimisation. Supports H.264, VP8, VP9, and AV1 codecs. Crystal-clear audio with noise suppression and echo cancellation.
💻
Screen Sharing
Share your entire screen, a specific application window, or a browser tab. Supports annotation overlay and remote control with participant consent. Optimised encoding for presentation content.
⏺
Meeting Recording
Server-side composite recording with FFmpeg transcoding. Multiple layouts (speaker, gallery, presentation, side-by-side). WebM, MP4, or MKV output up to Full HD. Client-side recording option. Stored on your infrastructure with optional encryption at rest.
🔒
End-to-End Encryption
Optional E2EE using AES-256-GCM with the Insertable Streams API. Media is encrypted on-device before reaching the server. Automatic key rotation, device verification via SAS codes. Even administrators cannot access encrypted content.
👥
Breakout Rooms
Divide participants into smaller groups for focused discussions. Automatic or manual assignment, timer controls, and broadcast messages from the main room. Participants can request help from the host.
💬
Chat & Messaging
In-meeting chat with file sharing, reactions, threading, and video messages. Persistent channels between meetings with conversation history and search. Cross-zone and cross-organisation messaging policies.
AI-Powered Meeting Intelligence
Run all AI locally on your infrastructure. No data leaves your network. Connect to Ollama, llama.cpp, or any OpenAI-compatible API.
🎙
On-Prem Transcription
Live captions and post-meeting transcripts via pluggable backends: Whisper (default, runs locally), Vosk for offline ASR, an external API if you have one, or manual entry. Multi-language with auto-detection, speaker segments, confidence scores, and export to VTT, SRT, JSON or TXT.
📝
AI Meeting Summaries & Action Items
Extractive and abstractive summaries, key decisions and auto-extracted action items with assignee suggestions. Generated through a local LLM backend (Ollama, llama.cpp, or any OpenAI-compatible API) — no transcript ever leaves your network.
🤖
Meeting Copilot & Speaker Coach
Ask the copilot questions during or after the meeting and it answers from the transcript and shared content. The speaker coach gives feedback on pace, filler words and engagement signals so people can improve between calls.
📊
Conversation Intelligence
Sentiment scoring on messages and meetings, talk-to-listen ratios, engagement peaks, and trend extraction across recurring conversations. Highlights and recap snippets are generated automatically for review.
🌐
Caption Translator
Real-time caption translation across languages. One audio stream produces multi-language captions on demand, so international meetings stay accessible without external translation services.
🧠
Meeting Classification
Classify meetings (internal, confidential, restricted, public) so policy can react to the label — restricting recording, guest joins, screen sharing or external chat based on sensitivity.
Phone System & Contact Centre
A complete telephony solution built in: no separate product, no extra licensing. VoIP, PSTN, SIP trunking, IVR, workforce management, and quality assurance.
📞
IVR Flow Designer
Tenant-scoped, persistent IVR flows with menu, transfer, queue, voicemail, playback, condition, webhook, meeting and hangup nodes. Server-side validator catches missing targets, unreachable nodes and dead-end menus. Flow execution emits gateway-agnostic instructions (play / gather / transfer / queue / voicemail / meeting / hangup) the adapter translates into TwiML, NCCO or ESL events.
📅
Auto-Attendant with Schedule Resolution
Business-hours / after-hours / holiday / emergency-override modes, each pointing at its own IVR flow. Schedule evaluation respects the attendant's timezone (multiple ranges per day, e.g. lunch break). Emergency override is a single switch that re-routes every inbound call until cleared, audited end-to-end.
🏢
Call Queues with Routing Strategies
Round-robin, least-busy, longest-idle, skills-based and priority routing. Live wait list is authoritative (FOR UPDATE SKIP LOCKED, no double-assignments under load), with hold music, position announcements and overflow targets. Skills filtering matches a queue's required skills against agent skill arrays.
👥
Agent Presence & Talk-Time
Agents register with extensions, queue memberships and skills. Status (available, busy, away, wrap-up, offline, training) is tracked in real time. Each agent's call count, total talk time and last-call timestamp accumulate for WFM and QA workflows. Concurrent-call limit enforced per agent.
🔊
Voicemail with Async Transcription
Per-mailbox voicemails record durations, sender identity and the originating call session. Transcript status (pending / done / failed / disabled) is updated by the same transcription pipeline that powers meeting recordings, so voicemails inherit Whisper-quality transcripts on-prem. Unread badges per user.
📋
Quality Assurance Scorecards
Author scorecards with weighted criteria (greeting, problem solving, closing, etc.), then evaluate completed call sessions against any active scorecard. Total score is automatically normalised to 0–100 regardless of how many criteria a card has, with pass/fail computed against your configured threshold. Per-agent rolling stats endpoint (eval count, average, pass rate) feeds coaching dashboards.
📅
Workforce Management
Schedule agent shifts (work / break / training / meeting / other) with automatic overlap rejection on work shifts. Adherence is computed in SQL by clamping work shifts and call sessions to the same window: scheduled vs actual seconds → adherence %, capped at 100. Per-agent + per-window adherence rows are persisted and queryable for performance dashboards.
🔗
Carrier & PBX Integrations
Translator-backed adapters ship in-tree for Twilio + Telnyx (TwiML / TeXML), FreeSWITCH (mod_xml_curl), Asterisk + FreePBX (AGI bridge with one-line extensions.conf install). Inbound calls hit a per-gateway webhook that responds in the gateway's native control format (TwiML XML / dialplan XML / AGI verbs); mid-call control (redirect, hangup, originate) goes back via Twilio Calls API, Telnyx Call Control, FreeSWITCH mod_xml_rpc or Asterisk ARI, configured per environment with one set of credentials.
Virtual Office
A persistent spatial workspace where remote teams feel present (like a real office, without the commute).
🏠
2D Spatial Workspace
A virtual office map with configurable zones: offices, meeting rooms, social areas, and quiet spaces. See where every team member is in real time. Administrators can create and customise the layout in edit mode.
📍
Proximity & Presence
Nearby user detection with spatial awareness. See who is available, busy, in a meeting, away, or on do-not-disturb. Knock on a colleague's virtual door or start a quick call from any zone.
🎵
Spatial Audio & Zone Channels
Audio that fades with distance. Walk closer to a conversation to hear it better. Zone-specific chat channels for location-aware communication. Quick meeting joins directly from the office map.
Collaboration & Engagement
Tools that turn meetings from passive listening into active collaboration.
🎨
Whiteboard
Collaborative whiteboard with drawing tools, shapes, text and sticky notes. Multi-user simultaneous editing with cursor sharing. Whiteboard activity feeds into engagement scoring (Whiteboard Artist badge for prolific contributors) and a post-meeting whiteboard summary.
🗳️
Polls, Q&A & Shared Notes
Live polls with real-time results, moderated Q&A with audience voting, and collaborative shared notes. Poll votes, questions and hand raises are tracked per participant for engagement analytics.
💬
Persistent Chat with Reactions, Pins & Threads
Channels (public, private, DM, meeting-bound, thread) with full-text search, mentions, soft-delete, edit history, message pinning and per-user bookmarks. Threads keep conversations organised; reactions and read receipts are first-class.
🎬
Async Video Messages
Record and send short video clips (up to 5 minutes) directly into a channel. Each clip is auto-transcribed via Whisper and supports emoji reactions, view counts, replies and threading — no need to schedule a meeting just to share an update.
🏟️
Webinars & Events
Host webinars with presenter / audience separation and audience tooling. Live polling, moderated Q&A, registration and check-in. Breakout sessions for hands-on workshops mid-event.
🔗
Federation & Directory
Server-to-server federation with Ed25519-signed invitations and verified server keys. Per-tenant federation policy (open, allowlist, blocklist, closed), with auto-accept, presence sharing and directory queries across instances. Federated messages are tagged with their source / target domains.
Compliance & Governance
Enterprise compliance built in, not bolted on. DLP, eDiscovery, legal holds, information barriers, and a full audit trail.
🔗
HMAC-Chained Audit Log
Every meeting event, recording lifecycle change, ACL approval, branding edit, federation action and admin operation is written to an HMAC-chained audit log. Any insertion, deletion or edit breaks the chain and is detected on verification. Filter by event type, actor, resource and date, and export the full trail for archival.
🛡️
Data Loss Prevention
Policy templates and custom rules scan chat, files, recordings, transcriptions, whiteboards, notes and voicemails. Each incident is tagged with severity (critical / high / medium / low) and a category. Operators triage from a DLP dashboard; a test scanner validates rules before they go live.
🔍
eDiscovery & Legal Holds
Search across meetings, recordings, chat messages and files. Case management with export and chain-of-custody. Place named legal holds on meetings, recordings, channels or whole user accounts to block deletion until explicitly released — with every hold transition audited.
👮️
Breach Investigation Workflow
Detects PII and secrets shared across tenant boundaries and routes them through a configurable investigation workflow: investigation teams, breach policies with SLAs, auto-escalation, response templates, and a delegation chain so it's clear at any moment who is investigating what.
✍️
ACL Approval Delegation
Tenant admins can delegate approval authority for cross-tenant or sensitive access requests to nominated users, with explicit valid-from / valid-until windows. Investigation teams have their own delegation chains for breach cases. Every transition lands in the audit chain.
🌍
Geofencing, Watermarking & Retention
Geofence rules by country or IP range, dynamic watermarks on recordings, configurable retention policies with a scheduled purge worker, and cross-boundary communication reports surfacing cross-tenant and cross-organisation activity. Every administrative decision is recorded in the audit chain.
Integrations & Calendar
Connect SinonMeet to the tools your teams already use, all running on your infrastructure.
📨
Platform Bridges
Bidirectional bridges connecting Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, and Matrix. Messages, notifications, and meeting invitations flow between platforms. Bridge health monitoring and configuration per channel.
🔧
Development Workflow
Integrations with Jira, Confluence, Notion, GitHub, and GitLab. Create issues from meetings, link discussions to tickets, and sync documentation. Meeting context flows into your development tools.
📅
Calendar Sync
Sync with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and Zoom calendars. Colour-coded events by source. Smart scheduling with AI-powered time suggestions. Recurring meetings, templates, and one-click instant meetings.
📢
Webhooks & Automation
Event-based triggers for meeting created, started, ended, recording completed, participant joined, and message sent. Generic webhook support for custom automations. Delivery logging with retry mechanism.
🧩
Plugins & Marketplace
Plugin framework for custom integrations. Add third-party tools, custom widgets, or organisation-specific workflows. Plugin marketplace for discovering and managing extensions.
💻
Embed & SDK
Embed meetings in your own applications via iframe or SDK. Custom theming for white-label deployments. Token-based authentication and parent-child message bridge for embedding in your own apps.
Engagement Metrics & Wellness
Real, per-participant signals — not vanity metrics. Used to recognise contribution and to flag burnout patterns, all on-prem.
📊
Per-Participant Engagement
Each meeting captures camera-on time, mic-on time, screen-share time, reactions, chat messages, questions asked, hand raises, poll votes, whiteboard strokes and action items created. A weighted score (0–100) yields an energy level (low / medium / high / very-high) for the meeting and the participant.
🏅
Named Engagement Badges
Awarded automatically post-meeting: Discussion Leader, Great Listener, Question Master, Team Player, Early Bird, Idea Machine, Engaged Chatter, Reaction King, Whiteboard Artist, and Marathon Runner. Badge criteria are configurable per tenant.
🏆
Engagement Leaderboard
Opt-in leaderboard ranking team members by aggregated engagement score over 7, 14, 30 or 90-day windows. Tenant-scoped by default; org-unit scoping for federated organisations. Privacy-aware analytics with explicit consent management.
Built for Organisations of Any Size
From small teams to enterprise-scale deployments, SinonMeet adapts to your requirements.
Tenants & Hierarchical Org Units
Tenants are the top-level isolation boundary; underneath each tenant you can model arbitrary depths of org units (departments, regions, customers-of-an-MSP). Org-unit admins manage their own users, quotas and policies; cross-unit communication is governed by the parent tenant.
White-Label Branding (Per Tenant and Per Org Unit)
Logo (light + dark), favicon, primary / accent colours, header and login imagery, email footer, support URL / email, custom CSS, and a "hide powered by" toggle — configurable per tenant and overridable at any org-unit level. Ideal for MSPs and federated brands.
Bulk User Provisioning
Tenant admins can import users in bulk from a CSV file with a preview step that flags duplicates and validation errors before anything is committed. SCIM 2.0 is also supported for ongoing identity provider sync. SSO via SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0 and OIDC. MFA supported.
Role-Based Access
Roles: Platform Admin, Tenant Admin, Org-Unit Admin, Moderator, Member, Guest. Org-unit admins get delegated administration scoped to their unit. Cross-tenant access requests flow through the ACL approval workflow.
Room Systems & Calendar
Physical meeting room integration with health monitoring, calendar booking and DTMF dial-in. Calendar sync with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook and Zoom. Smart-scheduling helpers suggest meeting times based on participant availability.
Admin Dashboard
Real-time platform metrics, active meetings and storage usage. Threat-detection feed, DLP triage, breach-investigation queue with delegation chain, audit-log viewer with chain-integrity status, ACL approval queue, retention and legal-hold management. Content moderation tools and full export.
Six Ways to Deploy
Choose the deployment model that fits your infrastructure and compliance requirements.
Bare Metal
Direct install on Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Rocky, or Alma. Automated script handles Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, mediasoup, coturn, Nginx, TLS, and systemd services. Non-interactive mode for CI/CD pipelines.
Docker Compose
Multi-service deployment with health checks, volume mounts, and environment configuration. Three profiles: minimal (API + DB + Redis), standard (+ Nginx + workers), and full (+ CoTURN).
Kubernetes & Helm
Production Helm chart with HA mode, horizontal pod autoscaling, and media server pod distribution. Persistent volumes, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and service discovery. Optimised for large-scale concurrent meetings.
Cloud VMs
Deploy on AWS EC2, Azure VMs, GCP Compute, or any provider. Use the bare metal installer with cloud-specific network and UDP optimisations for media transport.
Virtual Machines

Air-Gapped
Fully offline installation for classified or isolated networks. Pre-packaged Node.js, npm modules, PostgreSQL, Redis, and all binary dependencies. Meetings, phone, chat, and AI transcription all work without internet.
Why Ownership Matters
Your meetings contain your organisation's most sensitive discussions. You should own them completely, regardless of who hosts the platform.
You Own Your Communications
Whether you self-host or let SinonTech host it for you, you own 100% of your video, audio, recordings, and transcriptions. We never access, view, or mine your meeting data. Full data portability guaranteed.
Regulatory Compliance
Meet GDPR, UK DPA, HIPAA, and government security requirements for communications. DLP, eDiscovery, legal holds, information barriers, and a full audit trail with retention policies you define, regardless of deployment model.
No Per-User Fees
Unlimited users, unlimited meetings, unlimited recording storage, unlimited phone extensions. Scale to your capacity without per-seat licensing or cloud usage charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is SinonMeet?
SinonMeet is a self-hosted unified communications platform built on WebRTC with a mediasoup SFU. It includes video conferencing, a full phone system with VoIP and SIP, a contact-centre foundation with IVR and workforce management, a virtual office with spatial audio, on-prem transcription (Whisper / Vosk / external) and AI summaries via local LLM, persistent chat with reactions / pins / threads / video messages, an HMAC-chained audit log, DLP, eDiscovery, legal holds, and federation. All communication stays on your infrastructure.
How does SinonMeet compare to Zoom or Microsoft Teams?
SinonMeet runs entirely on your infrastructure and is built around a compliance-first chassis: every action lands in an HMAC-chained audit log, cross-tenant ACL approvals can be delegated with explicit time windows, and an investigation workflow with delegation chains escalates cross-boundary breaches. Capabilities that Zoom and Teams sell as paid add-ons (transcription, AI summaries, DLP, eDiscovery, legal holds, information barriers, webinar hosting) are first-class features here, with no per-user fees and no cloud dependency.
How does SinonMeet handle encryption?
TLS protects every connection. Per-meeting end-to-end encryption can be turned on for media streams using AES-256-GCM via the Insertable Streams API, with on-device key rotation and out-of-band SAS verification of devices. Even with server-mediated meetings, traffic stays inside your infrastructure.
How is the audit log tamper-evident?
Audit entries are written into an HMAC-chained log so that any insertion, deletion or edit breaks the chain and is detected on verification. Meeting events, recording lifecycle, ACL approvals, branding changes, retention edits, federation activity and admin actions all flow through the same chain.
Can org units have their own branding?
Yes. SinonMeet supports hierarchical org units underneath each tenant. Each org unit can override branding (logo, colours, header / login imagery, custom CSS, email footer) and inherits the tenant defaults for everything it doesn't override. Org-unit admins can also be delegated administration of their own users, quotas and policies.
How does ACL approval delegation work?
Tenant admins can delegate approval authority for cross-tenant or sensitive access requests to nominated users, with explicit valid-from / valid-until windows. Investigation teams have their own delegation chains for breach cases. Every approval, rejection and delegation transition is recorded in the HMAC-chained audit log.
Can SinonMeet run in an air-gapped environment?
Yes. SinonMeet supports six deployment modes including fully air-gapped installations with offline bundles. Pre-packaged Node.js, npm modules, PostgreSQL, Redis and all binary dependencies are bundled. Meetings, phone, chat, transcription via Whisper / Vosk and local-LLM summarisation all work without internet connectivity.
What compliance features does SinonMeet include?
DLP with severity-tiered incident tracking, eDiscovery search across meetings / recordings / chat / files, legal holds that block deletion across content types, retention policies with scheduled purge, dynamic watermarks on recordings, meeting classification, geofencing, and an HMAC-chained audit trail. It supports GDPR, UK DPA, HIPAA and government security requirements.
Does SinonMeet include a phone system?
Yes — the call-control layer is in-tree: a tenant-scoped IVR flow designer, auto-attendant with business-hours / after-hours / holiday / emergency schedule resolution, queues with round-robin / least-busy / skills-based / longest-idle / priority routing, agent presence and talk-time tracking, and per-mailbox voicemail with async transcription. SIP / PSTN connectivity is a configurable adapter seam: a Twilio TwiML stub ships in-tree (configured via env vars), and Telnyx NCCO / FreeSWITCH ESL / Asterisk AMI adapters can be added against the same TelephonyAdapter interface.
What integrations does SinonMeet support?
Protocol bridges for Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord and Matrix for cross-platform chat. Server-to-server federation (open / allowlist / blocklist / closed modes) with Ed25519-signed invitations. Calendar sync with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook and Zoom. SCIM 2.0 for user / group provisioning. Generic webhooks for custom automations. All integrations run on your infrastructure.
